Status. Prescription. Ritual. Pleasure. Art. Each panel assigns a different meaning to the same object, reflecting the extraordinary range of ideas projected onto caviar long before it is tasted. Together, the nine images turn the caviar tin into a visual vocabulary of pleasure, aspiration, ritual, indulgence, and desire. The work is part of Andrew Vergazov’s CAVIART series, an ongoing exploration of caviar as a cultural symbol and the mythology surrounding it.
